First, let me commend you for realizing you need help. Second, an ED treatment center should respect your vegan diet, but you should call ahead and explain that you want help but you won't go if they don't let you stick to your vegan diet. A common misconception about vegans is that they are scrawny. That avatar picture of mine? That's my back...and I'm vegan...and a woman! If, as a vegan woman, I can add muscle mass, then it's proof positive that a vegan diet isn't going to keep you skinny. What may also help is to go to veganbodybuilding.com and click the Profiles link (or just use this one: veganbodybuilding.com/ ?page= bios ) and print out the pictures and bring them with you. All the people there are vegan athletes, so you can see that veganism is healthy! They have a free forum here: veganbodybuilding.com/ phpBB2/ Try making an account (again, free) and asking for nutrition help...explain your situation and ask for any dieticians or nutritionists to make you a good eating plan to help you put on some healthy weight. Third, get healthy...not heavy. Eating plates of bread and rice and fried potatoes won't do you any good. Learn what a healthy body looks like and how it feels to be healthy. A fit body is achieved with proper nutrition and regular exercise (but not over-exercising). Adhering to a goal of fitness helps many people with eating disorders get better and STAY better.
