Wow...22 yrs on an anti addiction drug?? It obviously isn't helping if you have only been clean for 6 months out of the 22yrs. Don't get me wrong tho.... congratulations on being clean for 6 months! I think it would be really great if you get to the place where you can be clean and off any meds. Good Luck...

Have you ever completed a full rehab programme? Methadone, whilst safer than heroin in terms of it's composition, is not an answer to addiction, it is just swapping one drug for another - you deserve a better quality of life that taking 100mls of methadone and other prescription drugs daily. I am presuming that it is your doctor that is prescribing your anti-depressants and valium?...have they ever offered you any real treatment or just alternative drugs? Methadone is often prescribed as a short term resolution to help people to stop taking heroin, but it sounds as if you have been living with the restraints of drug addiction for many years without any real support? The most effective way be completely free of any substance and to address your dependency and psychological addiction properly is to go into rehab. The NHS have limited resources and if they were able to help your into a clinic I would have hoped they would have done so by now? On the other hand there is a lot of immediate help available privately - it isn't cheap, but it is life saving. There is light at the end of the tunnel, you just need the proper support. Expecting you to get off 100mls of methadone without a medically supervised detoxed is unrealistic and dangerous - you need and deserve some proper help. There are organisations out there that are able to advise you about how to identify the best treatment centre for your circumstances, I suggest you get in touch and start looking at your options so you don't have to continue your life the same way as you have done for the last 22 years - there is a better future. Start looking at a site like steps2rehab.com and get some advice about what you can do now. Hope this helps, good luck with everything x
