I am sorry to hear about that! I know that it is very hard to go through withdrawls from any addiction. My mom used methadone to help get off of heroin and she said that it is very addicting too. Some friends I know have resorted to methadone over oxycontin and heroin as well and many of them are still hooked. I know that there are some programs that can help alot. My friend helped her boyfriend get into a rigorous program with his kaiser insurance. He is lucky to have that insurance and they put him on siboxin, not sure how to spell it but its that along with weekly meetings. At first he didn't like it or want to do it, but now he is actually enjoying it. It helps that his brother, my boyfriend, quit doing drugs and stopped drinking too. Another friend of theirs is in recovery now too. I am so happy that people I care about are getting better. I think it will take a lot of patience! It's important to be very supportive. I am 6 months sober after I relapsed with alcohol after a year sober. I am 31 now but have had problems with substance abuse, primarily alcohol since I was way too younng. It became apparent when I was about 23 that I was an alcoholic but it got pretty bad! It's getting better. I am trying to take it 1 day at a time. It's hard! Best of luck!!! |
