How long does it take before building a tolerance. It works wonders, but i am scared that i should up my dosage regularly.Only been on it for a week so far, switched over from subutex. I would not up my dosage by myself. I want to find out if anyone's DOCTOR had to up their dosage. Clear?

Well they will probably up your dose until u get the level of pain relief u require then they will need to adjust your dose only when u have started to become tolerant and require a higher dose ..... When u feel like the dose u are taking no longer provides adequate pain relief tell them and they will adjust your dose .... I just hope u have a realistic idea of wat it will be like if you ever choose to come off of it .... It really is pure hell! I detoxed from methadone over a year ago and it was at least a month of total agony ... I'm only telling you this cause docs don't paint a realistic pic of that when putting patients on it but it really does work wonders for pain management .... I wish you the best of luck! And hopefully every thing works out for ya!

You do not "up " any dosage. That is your doctor's job. Doing such things is a very good way to get labeled as a drug abuser and end up with no pain med. Clear?

YIKES!! Methadone for fibromyalgia? No wonder my docs are so amazed at me. I only take darvocet, but I have to maintain a strict exercise, diet, rest, and stress management regimen to keep things livable. I am not criticizing, please don't think that for a moment, it is just I assumed the other person I know personally with fibro was on heavy meds for other issues. Suggestions I have found make a big difference for me if you want to try them are 1) Walk, swim, bike some easy gentle exercise at least 5 days a week. I know it seems impossible at first, but just do what you can and increase as you feel up to it. Having a dog that pulled me along a bit helped a lot. 2) No coffee, chocolate, tea, white sugar, high fructose corn syrup and limit white refined wheat flower. 3) Make what ever changes you need to to get as much rest as you need each night. 4) Get a stress coach. 5) If you possibly can find a physical therapist trained in myofacial release (this is the absolute !BOMB! for fibro pain relief).
