I ve been on methadone for 8mos. i am tapering off 3mg. a day will i be ok after 30 days

HiFirst of all congrats for trying to get off,I know how hard it is.I go to a methadone clinic and tapered before only 10 mill a week but the doctors say thats too fast.I guess it depends what dose your on your not supposed to decrease more than 10% of your dose at a time.30 days isnt very long to give yourself to get off.My boyfriend went down 5 mil at a time from 120 mil and he was fine untill he got down to 5 mil. then he was real sick.You should probably go a little slower like even 1 mill. a day.Good luck hope everything works out for you!!

It is always a very good idea to get a doctor to help you. If you do not want a doctor to know, there are clinics that will help you. Congratulation it takes guts to attemp to stop. I can say from experience.
