How long does it take to get through methadone withdrawals.?
I have been on methadone for 3 years, 100mg.

What can I do to make methadone withdrawals easier?
I have been on methadone for 6 months, gradually decreasing my dose to get off this stuff.. I was on 5mg about 3 4 days ago, and had to stop because im going on a trip sunday. Im not sick to my stomach but my body feels warm but I am constantly freezing. The restless legs has turned into a restless entire body. Hot showers help a little but is there anything else I can do? Will this get better or worse as the days go on? If it gets any worse, how can I make traveling on a bus tolerable?I forgot to add the constant fatigue and the fact that my legs burn just walking up the stairs..

Please, help if you can and leave off the judgmental comments

Methadone Withdrawal?
I've been going to a methadone clinic for about 6 days now on 70mg for opiate withdrawal. I didn't realize how strong methadone is until a few days ago and now I want to come off this crap. The clinic will only let you go down 10mg at a time and when you get down to 5mg you have to stay at that dose for a while. How strong do you think withdrawal will be for me being only 6 days in? Please only answer if you have experience with methadone.

Does anyone know a lot about methadone withdrawal?
I need to know how long it will be before regular pain meds will work as they are supposed to, Lortab, Percocet, Etc. . I'm having a major surgery done and have to be off the methadone to have the surgery. I stopped taking 120mg's on the 29th of april, I did not take any for five days. By sunday I felt so horrible someone brought me some 5mg methdone pills. So I took 50 60mg a day until today Friday , I'm not going to take anymore I just need to know the longest time someone's opiate receptors were blocked after stopping the methadone. Will my tolerance for pain meds. be very high is my first question? My second question is I read that ultram blocked methadone's affects, does that mean I can feel my pain meds? I know that it puts you into withdrawal, will that move the methadone out faster? I have to have rods and plates put into my wrist and arm, and don't want to suffer in pain. My doctor has already discrinated against me, I'm scared i will be in severe pain, he wont car

Methadone Withdrawal --scared with no one else to get answers from?
My dr put me on methadone for pain management about 2 years ago. I started out at 5 mg total a day and he eventually got me up to 40 mg total a day . I had major hip surgery hence the methadone. So eventually, about 10 months ago we started to taper my methadone and things weren't a 'walk in the park' but for the most part things were going smoothly and he was easy to communicate with if I had any problems. All of a sudden my dr is gone this past april I had called the clinic for a refill and was told my dr was no longer practicing at the clinic. I was anxious but to work that day on establishing a new internal medicine dr in the same clinic. The office made me an appt for 30 days later may and a day before the appt canceled it. So I tried to reschedule and they decided to schedule me with a different dr this time, which was fine with me. Same thing happened again, the appt was canceled last minute. And... get this... this happened a third time in June. So this whole time my medicine wasn't being tapered... I was at a constant 4 ml. I had to go to the hospital's Patient Advocacy office to finally get an appt that wouldn't be canceled last minute. So now I'm with a dr that has sped up my taper to an incredibly uncomfortable speed. More than twice the speed of the plan w my previous dr whom left his practice. So... my question The day I picked up the my current prescription I told the receptionist that I need to talk to her, my dr, as soon as possible because I was so anxious and fearful about the current taper my dr wanted me at. So now it's 2 weeks later, she called me once and I wasn't at my phone so I'm waiting for another call. I tried for a 2nd time today And at this point I just want to see if I can handle the withdrawal myself. I feel like she invalidates how I tell her I'm feeling. When I tell her about my withdrawal symptoms, I feel like she doesn't believe me. So last Fri 17th Oct I went from 4 ml a day I had been on 4 ml a day for about 17 days. That day I realized that she probably wasn't going to call me back in any timely manner I felt like I was backed up into a corner. So the next day, Saturday the 18th I went to 2 ml a day, Sunday I went to 1 ml a day half AM, half PM and I've been on that dose since Sunday... so 2 and a half days. But tonights 'the big night'... tonight is my last dose and it will be exactly .4 .5 ml. What I m trying desperately to figure out is how bad my withdrawals will be or if they will be bad at all. The last time I went through withdrawals was a long time ago and I was at 10 mg, so I know for a fact that the withdrawals won't be nearly as bad as they were then. But I know this won't be a walk in the park by any means, I just want to be prepared and have some sense of control over what I'm going to be feeling like for the next 2 weeks or however long they last. What's even worse is my mom is leaving in 2 days for a Napa Valley vacation and will be gone for 2 weeks so I'm going to be all by myself and I can honestly say I'm scared shi less.Does anyone out there know what I'm going to be going through, symptoms wise, in the next week or 2 weeks?? Any help, information, suggestions, or piece of mind is greatly appreciated... I have absolutely no one else to talk to about this. Thanks

Where can I find detailed information on methadone withdrawal?
My girlfriend has been on methadone for about 2 3 months for chronic pain. At max, she was taking 60 80mgs a day. Everything I read on the internet regarding withdrawal symptoms is regarding people who have been on 200mgs a day for years. She is obviously in a different criteria. Does anyone have a good resource regarding what to expect, and the best ways to get off of short term methadone use in relation to withdrawal symptoms it will product?

Is itching a symptom of methadone withdrawal?

Can you die from Methadone withdrawal?
My ex partner and father of my teenage son has been prescribed methadone for over ten years. He has not taken Heroin for many years now and throughout his addiction has worked. He has decided to try and detox and is currently waiting to be referred to a detox unit but it is taking months. He has been on a high dose for the last four years 150mg. He has other illnesses, he has high blood pressure for which he takes three types of medication and he has Hepatitus C. Aside from that, until the last year due to a change in circumstances resulting in the onset of depression he was pretty active and has generally ate reasonably well. Over the past few months due to a change in his clinic and his behaviour, there has been a number of times when he has not had his dose for up to three days. I have always thought that you cannot die from opiate withdrawel, however it's been indicated to him that due to the size of his dose and high blood pressure that that for him to go 'cold turkey' i.e. stop taking methadone suddenly could indeed be dangerous indeed fatal. I would be grateful for any informed advice, as some members of his family are suggesting that this is what he should do if he was serious about being drug free.

IS IT POSSIBLE TO HAVE METHADONE WITHDRAWALS AFTER JUST 6 OR 7 HOURS? PLEASE PLEASE HELP!?
PLEASE, FIRST OF ALL, ONLY EXPERIENCED PEOPLE OR DOCTORS OR COUNSELORS ANSWER MY QUESTION...THE LAST TIME I GOT A BUNCH OF KIDS TELLING ME TO GO THE EMERGENCY ROOM AND IT MADE NO SENSE AT ALL here is my story...I have been going to a methadone clinic since dec 2, 1009. they started me out on 30mg and every 2 days you can go up 5mg, so I did and when you get to 60mg you can go up every 7 10 days 10mg. Its now late March and I am on 120mg of LIQUID methadone.. not the Wafers . HERE IS MY QUESTION Over the past 2 days about 6 or 7 hours after I have dosed I start feeling aches and pains, hot and cold chills and today I have a mild fever. it hurts really bad to go up and down stairs, ...basically it feels like I'm having withdrawals....BUT WHY? I thought with methadone you are suppose to not go through withdrawals for about 24 to 48 hours...I have only had the flu once, so I dont remember really what its like to have the flu ....or a very bad cold for that matter...so do you guys think I am coming down with something or going through withdrawals for some reason? My husband said he quit going to the methadone clinic because thats what was going on with him this was before we knew each other but he took alot of amphetamines, so his metabolism was fast...all i know is I've been doing everything right, I AM NOT doing any other opiates or anything..PLEASE ANY INFO WOULD HELP SO MUCH....ive been on 120mg for about 3 weeks and i cannot go up any more because the state law now says if you take benzo's which i do, i take klonipin you cannot go any higher than that and that was fine with me anyway. please help I forgot to mention, and " Thank You" to the girl that responded first to me by the way ...actually I didnt mention, I am an addict AND a chronic pain patient. that is why I am on a high dose ...and I have been persribed my klonipin for over 14 years, so I know alot about them, and I really really wish that could of been the answer to my problems, but actuaally I dont take my klonipin every day...so I dont think that is my reason anyway...BUT, thank you SO much for your advice I was addicted to Dilaudid and Oxycontin from surgery after surgery and ER visits from Chronic endometriosis..Last year I had both ovaries and fallopian tubes removed, but I still had alot of pain..and addiction so thats why I started going to the methadone clinic. I have tried Suboxone, but it didnt help for my pain...however if it's the methadone causing me to go into withdrawls after such a short amount of time I WILL go back to the Suboxone again to the person that wrote to me first, thanks so much

Is there anything that helps with Methadone withdrawals?
My fiance has been on Methadone for an opiate addiction for 3 years. He recently has started the process to wean off of it. He was on 120 mg per day. He is now taking 67.5 mg. He is stepping down 2.5 mg per week. This week is the first week that he has started to feel withdrawals. He is sick at his stomach, hot and cold flashes, goose bumps and he says his whole body is aching. Is there anything we can do to make him more comfortable? He is very determined to get off of this stuff and I just want him to be as comfortable as possible. He is doing this through a clinic and doctor. No he is not on this for pain management. He became addicted to opiates oxycontin mostly out of misspent youth in college. He cannot switch to suboxone until he is down to 30 mg of methadone. Mostly it is the nausea and pain in his body that is most bothersome.
