Actually it is a little more than a Heroin substitute. Methadone Clinics supply Methadone (A synthetically produced, long-acting opiate) which is used as a treatment for opiate addiction including but not limited to Heroin, Oxycontin, Vicodin, etc. Methadone is also used to treat pain but must be prescribed at a pain clinic for that.

Its a substitute for heroin. its what heroin addicts go on to stabilize their addiction before going clean
