Well my ankle is killing me.. and i cant go to the dr until tom obviously.. i have 10mg methadone (they say 54/ 142 on them) i have little to no tolerance for opiates.. will I be okay taking this? i cant sleep bc of the pain and am by myself so I'm worried if its too much no one will be here?? plz need answers really soon okay.. so i took it before anyone answered.. and btw ive iced it for 4 hours before contemplating medication. and tylenol was available to me bc all the stores in my area closed at 11. it barely seems to be helping with the pain, and its been about an hour since i've taken it and im starting to feel nauseous. but other than that i dont really feel anything from it. Is nausea something normal i should associate with the methadone? |

NO!I dont think you should take it. (especially if it is not yours) I say this because, when you first get on meds- you need to build up to taking methadone I KNOW you want me to say YES, I just cannot. I CARE about people and as much as I want you to feel better and say all the right things- I'm not gonna. Other Problems with taking this: You said that you re alone. you're tolerance is low and no one to help you. If you have Tylenol or aspirin then that would be best. Just try and Relax.. I cant stand ice packs and I found this works just as good: 1. You can do this to help with treatment. Fill the bathtub with -cold water and soak your foot. Or even a Bucket of water-- Just like doing a "foot soak , but in cold water , I do not mean to try and swirl your ankle, but to move your leg too -- Front- back / side to side. this often works helps better then icepacks and when i sprained my ankle, While you have that foot in the water swirl it around so it doesnt become totally stiff. The problem with taking these meds- is when you do go for treatment- Be it your Dr's office or ER. if you already have something in your system- they may not give you anything because you may have a reaction from the methadone . I have seen this in the ER all too often- and also experience from accidents and surgeries. "dont take your meds " or when was your last dose? these sort of questions are asked. I know you are in Pain- it wont be that much longer. i WOULD SAY CALL THE ER- but then they may call your Dr- and get some advice. They can then ask all the personal questions that we can Ht, weight, other medications- etc. The other thing to is- If you broke it- will you need surgery? Pins - you just never know. If you have that in your system- it may put it off for a day-- LOL - --This is what i was trying to say- ( I too am in pain - havent slept in 3 days- go figure!it's been a long week) OK I do hope you did not break your ankle, and I just ask - can you drop me an email after. God Bless! and Get Well Soon. EDIT: OK so I dont understand...I feel rather ridiculous, you didnt really care much what we had to say anyway? You left all that information out--WHY: a and I was giving you information based on the information you gave us. What's next? I And.... Yes you feel nausea because you are not used to these strong meds, and you had tylenol? . I would have suggested you go to the ER and I probably would have given a different answer.. Just try and eat some saltine crackers or something else to help with nausea. I hope I didnt waste my time-- GOODLUCK AND GOODNIGHT and BTW I still do care and gave you a truthful answer |

I'm sorry, but I doubt it will help you much. That really is a low dose. There are people on 500mg a day. But they had to build up to that amount. Without a tolerance for it, you might just get sick. I'm not a doctor, but I would advise against it. If you broke your ankle, then why don't you call 911 or an ambulance or someone to take you to the emergency room. They're open 24hrs.. EDIT - This edit is probably too late to do any good, but yes, nausea is expected. That's why one must build a tolerance for it in order for it to be effective. Sometimes it takes many weeks to build up to the proper dosage, adding 5 - 10 mg every couple of days. That's why I thought it wouldn't help you much. Well, I hope you got your ankle treated, broken or not, and have obtained the proper medication.. |

Well you are by yourself, you're sensitive to opioids and it's true no one will be there if you do get serious side effects. You need to be cautious with this drug, especially you are sensitive to opioids. Methadone does have major hazards they can cause respiratory depression, apnea, circulatory depression, respiratory arrest, shock, cardiac arrest. Have you tried advil, ibuprofen, or ice pack? Try benadryl or tylenol pm for sleep aid. Take care. Never take other people's prescriptions. |

You need a reliable answer and remedy so go to your PMD ASAP and quit fooling around. Take the methadone to hold down the pain until you see your MD. These are the simplest and most practical actions. |
