Question: Do methadone help you detox from oxycodone?

No it doesn't it is just a small bit less addictive. It is kind of like how smokers use nicotine patches to help them quit smoking, It just helps take some of the edge off the physical symptoms.

Methadone can be used to wean people off, yes, but IME, I would reserve methadone for people who have used opioids at very high-doses for years and years. Methadone users can eventually get off of methadone, but the withdrawals are HELLISH (much much worse than heroin). In fact, a lot of people end up staying on methadone for life. A better option if you're looking to detox would be buprenorphine (Suboxone). Feel free to contact me if you need more info.
