Question: Does methadone help drug addicted people with the habit they acquired?

If a person is addicted to herione or another drug and is given methdone to help them kick their habit that it really is helping the person?

If used properly it can help addicts but they have to have willpower or it wont work

It is given to Heroin addicts only as far as I know. Also, from what I know people get addicted to Methadone as well. Its really trading one addiction for another.

Kinda it helps the withdrawal symptoms...but then you get addicted to methadone its a terrible cycle

No it does not. It just a way for that person to not do any other form, way, or drug. Methadone is the legal way to get hi. But the person will be addicted to methadone. If you want to break free from heroine you have to break clean. Go through the withdraw symptoms etc. Life is not easy but who told you you should do heroine on the first place... EFIL

Methadone is substitute for heroin, so no, that is not getting addicts off drugs is it? Then you have a methadone addict laying about instead of a heroin addict stealing. That is your improvement. I am a proponent of 'cold turkey' style. It's what I used 11 years ago.
