I NEVER DID THE METHADONE PLAN. I WENT STRAIGHT TO SUBOXONE OUT OF REHAB. BEEN ON SUB FOR 3 YEARS AND 11 MONTHS SINCE. NOT A SINGLE LAPSE. NO CRAVINGS! I AM SCARED WHEN I'LL STOP SUB! MY THERAPIST HOWEVER BELIEVES THERE IS NO PROBLEMS FOR ME TO STAY ON SUB FOR LIFE. MY ADVICE, FIND A SUB DOC.

Yes, suboxone will do the job. I call suboxone a miracle drug. I know someone who takes it and it has changed their lives. Highly recommend it! Good Luck

You say will it help "as well ". ........you can't do methadone AND suboxone together! Never never mix them! ...........between the 2 of them suboxone is the best one........but don't be fooled like the answer that says they have been on it for 3 yrs and call themselves "clean ". Suboxone IS an opiate and not meant for long term use like that so that just shows how suboxone can be abused as easily as anything else, you shouldn't be on it NO LONGER than 12 months tops!! If you don't have the will power or strength to stay clean after a year then its because you simply don't want to..........good luck on your journey :)

I just wanted to comment on "Belle's " comment. She clearly has no clue whatsoever what she's talking about. Suboxone is meant to be a long term treatment - a minimum 2 years. Some will need it for life. Addiction is a brain disease that can not be overcome with "willpower ". Suboxone and methadone fills the opiate receptors in the brain that removes the cravings which helps you stay clean. Once you stop taking it the cravings come back and many relapse. That does NOT mean that you don't want it. It's just like a person with depression whose depression comes back when they no longer take antidepressants. That doesn't mean that just because they relapse into their disease that they don't want it. Want has nothing to do with it. If it did we would have stopped using a long time ago. Also, taking methadone or suboxone doesn't mean that you are not clean. It's a medication for a brain disease and taking medication is not at all the same as using drugs. People on methadone or suboxone ARE clean. Anyway, to your question, suboxone may help you. You can't take both together though. It's either or. Some do better on methadone while others do better on suboxone. You either stay on methadone and give it a shot or you switch to Suboxone. It's tricky to switch from methadone to sboxone though because methadone stays in your system for a long time and you have to be in withdrawal when starting suboxone. If you are not in severe enough withdrawal when starting suboxone the suboxone will cause withdrawal, precipitated withdrawal, and it is worse than anything you've ever experienced. A Suboxone doctor would help you with all that though. If methadone works for you there is no reason to switch though. If you are on a sufficient dose methadone works very well. It has kept me clean for over seven years.
