Are there any good from methadone clinic for drug addicts. I just want to know how does Methadone actially helps crackheads and drug addicts. The place where I live is filled with crackhead, pot heads and different kind of heads, that I even don't want 2 mention, and they are pretty bad on drugs, this is what I can say. I would like to know does Methadone clinic actially helps them or not, because as I see them they seems to suffer more than get satisfied from drugs they take.

I could write an entire book about this topic, but the short answer is yes. Sure methadone patients are still dependent on opiates; however on MMT they are relieved from the legal and financial troubles associated with illicit opiates. Therefore they are able to keep a stable job and have a somewhat normal life, rather than resort to crimes to buy heroin. Clinics are often placed in skid row because that's where most addicts and former addicts tend to live at (can't afford any place better); that's a major convenience (and motivation to stay on methadone) for someone who has to visit the clinic daily. Clinics don't create crime out of no where - they're just placed in parts of town that are already high in crime and drugs. And methadone is for opiate addicts only - that's heroin and other derivatives of the opium poppy. It does nothing for cocaine or meth or (insert drug here) users except give them a 2nd addiction. Those addicts are treated through completely different means. If you want my honest opinion though, I think legal heroin would be a much better alternative than methadone or buprenorphine any other drug policy the dumbass government has ever come up with. And again, I could write a book on this - in fact I just might if I ever get the time off work.

No. I've worked in meth clinics and very very few people are serious about quitting drugs all together. They drug tests would come back positive for everything under the sun including heroin. Methadone is only used for opiate addicts, heroin, oxycontin, etc... At the clinics i worked at drugs were sold in the back. I use to be a heroin addict. i refused to get hooked on one drug to come off another drug. I've had patients tell me it was worse coming off methadone then it was heroin. I think It's a wast of time. But everybody has a right to choose their own recovery path. this happened to not be the choice for me.
