I think it is best to be honest with your doctor and go to a detox center. You have already been through detox so you know what it entails. You need medical help for a bit, and then I would recommend AA and support groups. I know of a very good new one starting up which will have meetings as well. I wish the best to you and I hope to see you there. Come, join and tell us your name so we can pray for you. You can do this, don't give up and seek help |

You should definitely talk to your doctor about this. If you have a decent doctor they will give you the help you need. Using those pills is only going to be a temporary solution to the pain and suffering that you will undoubtedly experience. You need to be supervised by professionals if you want it to be over for good. Hopefully, going through this once will prevent you from considering doing it again. Your doctor shouldn't judge or report you, so you have no need to fear. Pills for sleeping are addictive also, and you don't want your body to become dependent on those either. |

Suboxone is a GREAT detox drug, as long as you don't use it for moire than 3-4 weeks tops. any more than that and it will be harder to come off of than the heroin. Trazadone is a prescription, non addictive sleep aid widely used in rehabs. Easy to get and cheap. clonodine or valium are used to help with the restless legs and tension. watch this before you go on Sub maintenance though...if you are considering it. afflictedandaffected.com/ index.php?option= com_content &view= article &id= 248:steven-scanlan &catid= 40:shows2008 about 12 minutes in it gets to the important stuff. Oh, and the proper way to take suboxone is to wait until you are in moderate to severewithdrawall, thendissolvee it under your tongue. It comes in 2 mg and 8 mg tablets. you do NOT need to take more than 1 pill. It won;t get you high like H does but it will take away your w.d. symptoms. You need to be very careful with this stuff. it is a long lasting powerful opioid, with a half life of 37 hours. heroin has a half life of about 3 hours. That's where the problem lies...Sub does things to your brain that a shortactingg opiate like H or oxy can't do...and not any good things. An H detox lasts about 5 days, and a Sub detox lasts 30 days, usually followed by PAWS. Then you need somecounselingg of some sort, or some kind of support group. For an alternative to 12 step programs you could check out smartrecovery.org good luck. |

Yeah, in theory you should talk to your doctor...But you know what will happen. They will put a note in your file that says "DRUG ADDICT - OPIATE DEPENDENT " and you can expect to be treated like a 2nd class citizen by the medical community for the rest of your life. With that said, heroin is not that tough to kick. It's like 3 days of he!! and then the worst is over. All you need is like 1-2 suboxone tablets to get you through it. Take very small pieces of the suboxone only as needed for no more than a week or two. Like someone else said, You DO NOT want to get addicted to suboxone. Trust me, I made that mistake and sub is way worse to detox from. Email me if you need some one to talk to and advice. And stay right away from AA / NA. What a load of crap that is. Trust me again. You are 18, you don't need to label yourself as an "addict for life ". Get clean, stay away from the junk, and get a new life. You can be anything you want to be, and do anything you want to do. A little counseling would be a good idea though, to help you learn how to deal with feelings without escaping when things get too tough. Good luck! |
