Drug Methadone: Methadone Symptoms & Side Effects

Question: How does one get off the drug methadone without being sick and not sleeping?list medications ?

A friend of mine has been on it for years and has been doing great! Now this person wants to get off of this medicine I believe its 100 milligrams per day. This person however does not want to feel any pain?

Not possible. Methadone is by far the worst opiate to withdraw from. Tapering down slowly will help a bit; getting a sleeping pill prescription could help too (although doc's are reluctant to prescribe any potentially addictive drugs to someone on MMT); anyway, there's absolutely no way to avoid a couple of weeks of hellish pain. I wouldn't be too worried about the physical withdrawals though. Sure they suck, but it's the psychological withdrawals in the months that follow that are the worst.
