Like do they have to work hand in hand. This is for cocaine. Just trying to find out for a friend of mines. He wants help and i found out about this drug detox thing and where he could go. And oh while i'm at it, is helping him this way too much involvement? I never pushed him he says he wants to but i found the place for him |

Dude, him going to get detox'd and returning to his life as normal is not going to do anything. In order to even have a chance at breaking addiction you need a whole life change. He can't be friends with anyone who uses. He can't be near it. He can't be in the company of someone who's high. He can't continue with his life like he used to, because he WILL end up using again. The best results come when someone takes the steps to change their whole life. |

It is great that you are looking out for your friend! well, you could have a natural detox with a changed diet more exercise and getting out there at the beach and stuff, you could do it together, trust me the natural way is great but you will really have to watch him with the cocaine. Before going to the drug detox thingo I recommend putting in a bit of research before trying it. Good luck! |

The point of rehab is to keep people away from their life of habitual drug use and their friends who use it as well. I don't think that will be the best investment of time and money. |

Hi Eve. I think it is better that you should consult this to an experienced or medical professional in handling this kind of situation. I believe this is the first step along the road to recovery. |

First of all, cocaine does not require a detox, at all. Everything about cocaine is mental. When you quit using it after a binge or even a gram a day for quite some time, your mind literally immediately starts craving it. "I need cocaine, do more, you need more ". There's literally nothing physical about detoxing from cocaine. Aside from the numerous effects it can have on the body (from not so to very serious), after a few hours of lastly getting high, the user should be back to normal. Mentally? Not even CLOSE, but physically they're going to want to eat a boatload and sleep. Mentally they'll be depressed, sad, totally uninterested in everything, indifferent to everything, and simply craving more blow. It's an insane addiction in the mind. Drug detox for a drug like heroin or alcohol with rehab would be quite pointless if you ask me. Cocaine should require rehab or other form of treatment because the relapse rate is 94-99% with cocaine addicts. It's not physically taxing like heroin or alcohol withdrawal, but cocaine is a mistress that has to be gotten away from and surrounded with positive influences. |

It is possible but it can be very uncomfortable and even dangerous. Drug rehabilitation centers have the tools to help addicts with detox and after wards. Wishing your friend the best with his recovery. |
