Question: How can i help my boyfriend while he continues to recover from drug addiction?
(Posted by: on 2010-06-06 01:52:38)
My boyfriend is currently five months clean off of meth (among other drugs, but meth was the big problem), and i am so proud of him, however, he still struggles greatly, and the more i learn about meth, the more scared that i become that he will relapse. i worry since the recovery statistics are so low and because of the damage it does to a person. he has professional help from a therapist that he enjoys, and we have finally gotten him to agree to a group program. he has a job and he is doing well for himself, but when he gets down and irrational, or when he is up all night with nightmares or drug cravings, what can i do to help him? basically i am asking, how can i help calm him, or does anyone know a way to help someone get through cravings? Thank you! also, as experienced before, many will probably suggest that he is not clean and not to trust him, etc, but he is regularly drug tested, so i have more proof than just his word that he is in fact clean. Thanks! |

Okay i will be straight up im not a child im a grown ass man. If you have time and you are in the correct place why not some sex or at least a little bit of oral. It will relive stress, and well lets just say he wont be thinking about meth......well lets hope cause then it would kinda be like hes gay for meth |

View your-mental-health.8m.com/ blank_30.html about addiction, and nightmares on page O, although I have my doubts that it will be effective in cases involving withdrawals. Try taking 100 - 200 mg of 5-htp 1hr before bedtime; 100 mg at first. Ginseng (preferably Chinese; otherwise American) is recommended for cocaine withdrawal, specifically, (but may also help with methedrine - both are stimulants) and c(h)amomile (use no milk) for drugs, generally. Try the relaxation methods at drcoxconsulting.com/ managing-stress or altmedicine.about.com/ cs/ mindbody/ a/ Meditation.htm or wikihow.com/ Meditate and/ or Tai Chi, Qi Gong, or yoga. Also page L at this site*, where there are several to choose from. Some people are still dismissive of them, but scientific testing has demonstrated conclusively that they increase activity in the left prefrontal cortex, when practised regularly, and will enable you to find a way of being; awareness, without suffering, when you need it, and is a valuable tool for helping you through the worst parts of life. From Y!A: "Take doses of calcium gluconate & magnesium carbonate. These are the two minerals the body is deficient of and create the terrible withdrawals you're having ". |

Your boyfriend needs support to encourage his recovery. Don't give up home! Treatment programs encourage support groups and counseling to help decrease the changes of a relapse. Try to get your boyfriend into a 12-step program, even though he's clean right now, the peer support will help him tremendously. Good luck! |
