I am taking 240mg codeine a day. my doctor just added buprenorphine. won't i go into withdrawals?

I don't feel comfortable with the idea of putting on the Norspan 5mcg per hour 7 day trans dermal patch because it says in the patient information leaflet that if you are dependent on opioids (which I am) then you could go into withdrawals. The doctor gave me the buprenorphine patch in response to my request for more pain medication as I have injured my arm, but most people who have talked about it on forums say that it's next to useless for pain treatment.

You may go into withdrawals if you use the medication for more than one week. All opiates combat pain, and Buprenorphine is stronger than codeine.
